Douglas "Doug" L. Dispennett

Douglas “Doug” L. Dispennett, 72, passed away with family by his side on Friday, June 5, 2026, at University Hospital in Indianapolis after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

He was born on July 6, 1953, in Goshen, to Donald D. and Barbara Ann (Fowler) Dispennett.

Doug married Genya Hull on April 14, 1979, in Goshen.

She survives, along with children; Heather (Jackson) Stewart, Carmel, Douglas Riley Dispennett, Smyrna, TN, and Angela Kennedy, Indianapolis; grandchildren Keagan, Keller, Faith, and Vivian; and sister-in-law Jill Dispennett, Coloma, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Darold D. Dispennett.

A self-employed businessman, Doug owned and operated Douglas Dry Cleaners and was also involved in property management throughout his career. He was a man of strong faith and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Goshen.

Doug graduated from Goshen High School with the class of 1972 and remained proud of his roots throughout his life. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Indy 500 race and was an avid bike rider. He enjoyed long bike rides with his loving wife.

One of his proudest accomplishments was soloing an airplane at the age of 16, an achievement that reflected his adventurous spirit and determination.

Doug found great joy with the outdoors, especially caring for his lawn, spending time by the pool, and enjoying the beauty of nature. Those who knew him will remember his strong work ethic, his love of family and friends, and his appreciation for the simple moments that brought happiness to everyday life.

Friends and family may visit from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Natalie Biggerstaff from Faith Christian Center will be leading the service.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s honor may be made to Boys and Girls Club of Goshen, or to Goshen Parks and Recreation.
