Dorothy Vance, 89, of South Bend, formerly of Goshen, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, at West Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Goshen to Harley E. and Mildred (Myers) Shoup.
On Sept. 24, 1950 she married Charles R. Vance in Goshen. He died Oct. 30, 2011.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise (Glen) Blosser, Niagara, Wisconsin and Diane (Tommy) Vaughn, Elkhart; three grandchildren, Michelle (Carey) West, Erik (Diane) Blosser and Kevin (Kayley) Blosser and 10 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna M. Vance; two sisters, Zadie Young and Frances Miller and two brothers, George M. and Franklin D. Shoup.
Mrs. Vance was a lifelong Goshen resident except for 16 years spent in California, where she managed a mobile home park. In Goshen she owned and operated Corner Café and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Goshen.
She loved her family and friends and enjoyed traveling.
Mrs. Vance donated her body to Indiana University Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Goshen. Pastor Jessica King will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Alzheimer & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, 111 Sunnybrook Court, Roseland, IN 46637.
Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting with the family with services.
