Dorothy Uryga

April 3, 1932 — October 20, 2015

Dorothy Uryga, 83, of Millersburg, passed away at her home Tuesday morning, October 20, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born April 3, 1932 in Whittington, England to James and Min (Beardsmore) Lockyer. On November 11, 1950 she married Stanley Uryga in Lichfield, England. He survives along with four children, James (Sally) Uryga of Cincinnati, Ohio, John (Brenda) Uryga of Elkhart, Julie (Jack) Senger of Millersburg and Karen (Bill) Couch of Covington, Georgia; 16 grandchildren, Megan Uryga, Christopher Uryga, Jaime Holmes, Jillian Dail, Christopher Buzas, Lindsey Ferreira, Tommy Couch, Sara Uryga, Ashley Uryga, Annie Couch, Jamie Farrell-Senger, Andrew Buzas, Victoria Anderkin, Jarrett Senger and Jenna Senger; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Bob) Harvey of England and a brother-in-law of Albert Uryga, Livonia, Michigan. Also surviving are special friends, Jacque Hagerty of Union, Michigan, Mark Buczek of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Joe Uryga, Mary, Sophia and Louise of Poland, Ray and Mabel Miller of Goshen, Father Tony Steinacker and Father Fernando Jimenez of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents and good friend, Ruby Miller. Dorothy loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She and Stan played canasta daily. She loved making her home a warm, loving place for her family. She enjoyed flower gardens and hers were always colorful and perpetually blooming and weed free. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting. Dorothy was born and raised in the Church of England and became a Roman Catholic in October 2015. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Courtyard Rehabilitation, IU Health Goshen Hospital nursing and CNA staff and Goshen Hospice for the loving care they gave Dorothy. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart County Down Syndrome Support Group, PO Box 1224, Goshen, IN 46527 or Goshen Asperger/Autism Support Group, c/o Christine Guth, 406 S. 7th Street, Goshen, IN 46526.
