Dorothy J. Smith, 85, of Goshen, passed away late Sunday night, June 3, 2012, at Courtyard Healthcare. She had been in failing health since the end of April. She was born June 24, 1926 in Goshen to Perry LaMar and Edna Graves (Lamb) Edsall. She married Richard V. Smith, November 17, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky. He died February 2, 1987. She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Werker of Bristol and Becky (Richard) Gray of New Carlisle; two sons, Randy (Art Singleton) Smith of Bremen and Terry (Julie) Smith of Hartford, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis Flamion of Elkhart and Barbara (Leo) Ramza of Goshen. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin and Robert Edsall and two sisters, Edith McQuay and Mary Neterer. A member of the Goshen High School Class of 1944, Mrs. Smith worked at Johnson Controls until 1991 and at McDonald's until 2006. She was a member of First Brethren Church, Goshen, where she helped serve meals. She also volunteered at Goshen Hospital. Friends may call 2 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 8, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012, funeral service will be conducted. Pastor John Drexler will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Brethren Church, Goshen, or Ronald McDonald House at South Bend Memorial Hospital.
