Dorothy Poff, 92, of Goshen, died Tuesday morning at her daughter's home. She had been in failing health for several months. She was born October 5, 1919 in Farmersburg to the late Jesse and Lucy (Risinger) Shepperd. She married Orville Poff on December 24, 1939 in Sullivan. He died January 4, 1995. Surviving are two daughters; Mary Ruth (Paul) Phillips of Brazil, and Betty Ann (Kenneth) Hackler of Goshen; a son, JT (Kathy) Poff of Bay City, Michigan; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Powell Poff; two sisters, Mary Ruth Shepperd and Ruby Krahulec; and three brothers, Edgar, Clifford and Jesse Lee Shepperd. A homemaker, Mrs. Poff worked at Chamberlain Elementary School as a substitute reading tutor. She loved teaching children, listening to books on tape and cooking. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, great and great great-grandchildren. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, December 22 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2011, at the New Paris Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Greg Hall will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made to Goshen Care at Home Hospice or New Paris Church of the Nazarene.
