Dorothy B. Parker, 92, of Elkhart, died early Tuesday morning, January 17, 2012, at her home. She was born April 17, 1919, to the late Edgar L. and Grace (Watson) Becker in Goshen. She married Daniel Melvin Parker on April 21, 1939, in Goshen. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1993. She is survived by a daughter, Donna J. (Elmer) Yoder of Elkhart; a son, Dennis L. (Carmen) Parker of Goshen; four grandchildren, Mike (Mary) Parker, David (Yevheniya) Parker, Kathryn (Wayne) Staten, Dennis (Andrea) Dandino; a step-granddaughter, Stacie (Scott) Gayheart; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille B. Clem, and a brother, Arnold Becker. A resident of the Goshen area most of her life, Dorothy worked at Goshen Hospital as a nursing assistant, taking care of newborn babies, which she considered to be the best job in the world. She retired from the hospital in 1986. A member of First Brethren Church of New Paris, Dorothy found great enjoyment in travelling. She was able to visit all 50 states. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Friday, January 20, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 am, Saturday, January 21, 2012, funeral service will be held. Pastors Larry Baker, First Brethren Church, South Bend, and David Kline, will officiate. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to First Brethren Church of New Paris or Wellfield Botanic Gardens of Elkhart.
