Dorothy Marie Middleton

Dorothy Marie Middleton, 95, of Goshen, died Tuesday evening, September 6, 2011, at Goshen Hospital a week after suffering a stroke. She was born April 29, 1916 in Urbana, Ohio, to the late Edgar and Goldie (Muzzy) Crane. On April 29, 1937 she married Ora E. Middleton in Urbana, Ohio. He died December 16, 1996. She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Phillip) Hurst of Muncie; a son, David (Barbara) Middleton of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Tirman, on August 18, 2011. Dorothy graduated from Urbana High School, Ohio, and moved to Goshen in 1952 from Crawfordsville. A homemaker, she had worked at Fiedeke's Dry Cleaners. She volunteered at Goshen Hospital gift shop and Greencroft. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, knitting, reading and solving crossword puzzles. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 9 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour before the service on Saturday. A 10 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011, funeral service will be conducted at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft, with her grandson, Father Tom Tirman officiating. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart County Humane Society.
