Dorothy P. Michael Kennedy, 96, of Goshen died Wednesday at The Maples at Waterford Crossing.
She was born Dec. 20, 1921 in Midway, Kentucky to Edward and Emma (Hawkins) Scott.
On March 29, 1943 she married Ralph R. Michael, former Goshen Postmaster, in New Albany. He died March 16, 1986. She married A. Stanley Kennedy on Jan. 1, 1991 in Goshen. He died July 26, 1995.
Survivors include three children, Sue (Paul) Fields, Elkhart, Bob (Linda) Michael and Pat (Sue) Michael, both of Peoria, Arizona; seven grandchildren, John (Stephanie) Michael, Scott (Rhonda) Michael, Bryan Fields, Dan (Diedra) Blosser, Matt (Melissa) Blosser, Eric (Leah) Blosser, and Luke (Holly) Kennedy; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Dorothy was a Georgetown High School graduate, receiving her bachelor’s degree from Goshen College and master’s degree from Ball State University, Muncie. She taught third grade in the Concord Community School system for more than 20 years at Southside and Ox Bow Elementary Schools.
An active member of Sugar Grove Church, she served as financial secretary and taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Happy Hoosiers Homemakers Club and enjoyed astronomy, gardening, and traveling. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing many of her children’s clothes.
Friends may call Sunday, June 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, June 4 at Sugar Grove Church, 58512 Old C.R. 17, Goshen, prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service. Rev. Cary Perdue, former pastor will officiate.
Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Goshen.
