Dorothy “Dottie” Mawhorter Lehman, 82, of Goshen, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2016, at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She had been in failing health the past several months.
She was born April 6, 1933 in Wawaka to TJ and Agnes (Evans) Mawhorter.
On July 18, 1999 she married Duane S. Lehman in Lake City, Michigan.
He survives along with three step-children, Jean Lehman (Tony) Laughter of Grand Rapids, Michigan, David (Linda) Lehman of Plymouth, Minnesota and Janice Lehman (David) Kay of Goshen; eight step-grandchildren; a brother, Edward (Mary) Mawhorter of Amherstburg, Ontario; and a sister, Sarah Early of Sun City, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard Mawhorter and T.J. Mawhorter, Jr.
A 1954 graduate of Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, Dottie worked as an elementary school teacher in Colorado for eight years and at the Christian Academy in Japan for more than 30 years. She moved to Goshen from Midland, Michigan.
Friends may call Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service at Sugar Grove Church. Pastor Matt Wheeler will officiate.
A private burial will take place in Cosperville Cemetery, Wawaka.
