Dorothy E. Kercher, 88, of Goshen, died late Tuesday night, February 21, 2012, at Courtyard Healthcare. She was born September 25, 1923 in Gilboa Township, Indiana, to Arthur and Faye Gardner. She married Lyle B. Kiser. He died in 1963. She then married John A. Kercher. He died 2003. She is survived by a son, Michael Kiser of Scottsdale, Arizona; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Gardner of Minnesota. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Rhodes; a step-son, John D. Kercher and a brother, Jim Gardner. She worked as a secretary at Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds for 39 years, retiring in 1994. During her tenure at the 4-H Fairgrounds she was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 1985 annual convention of the Indiana Fair Association. In 1988 she was designated a Certified Fair Executive by the International Association of Fairs and Expositions. A longtime, faithful and active member of Plymouth United Church of Christ, Mrs. Kercher served on many committees and in 1974 served as the church's first woman moderator. Friends may call from 10 until the 12 p.m., funeral service on Friday, February 24, 2012, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor David Boothby, Plymouth United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
