Dorothy H. Hoogenboom, 96, of Goshen, died Friday morning, May 13, 2011, at Emily’s House at Waterford Crossing, after a month long battle with cancer. She was born November 14, 1914, in Goshen to the late Dirk and Emma (Nolles) Hoogenboom. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Van Diepenbos and Margaret Hoogenboom; and two brothers, Henry and Dick Hoogenboom. A lifetime area resident, she was a very active member of Greene Road Church where she served as pianist, organist and choir director. She was also a member of Goshen Hospital Auxiliary, Oaklawn Hospital Auxiliary, and the Maple Chapter of Professional Secretaries International where she served as past president. She traveled extensively. After a career as a school teacher she worked for Snuggle Products and then Johnson Controls in the Human Resource Department until her 1984 retirement. Friends may call 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, May 15, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A 10 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Pastor John Wanders officiating. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Greene Road Church, Goshen Hospital Foundation or Elkhart County Humane Society.
