Dorothy R. Herring, 88, of Goshen, died Friday morning, May 15, 2015 at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse, where she resided the past month. She was born March 16, 1927 in Chicago to Henry and Emily (Brauneis) Van Zuilen. On April 12, 1947 she married Robert D. Herring in White Pigeon, Michigan. He died July 7, 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Devon) Manns of Syracuse; a son, Mark (Paula) Herring of Leesburg; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene (Leland) DePue of Middlebury. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Whetten, a brother, Donald Van Zuilen, and a sister, June Hostetler. An area resident since 1947 she and her husband co-owned Herring's Dental Laboratory, Goshen. Mrs. Herring was a member and deacon at First Presbyterian Church, Goshen where she also served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a Campfire leader and Cub Scout den mother. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory, Goshen. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
