Dorothea J. Stutzman

Dorothea J. Stutzman, 82, of Goshen, died peacefully in her sleep Thursday morning, August 14, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 11, 1932 in Milford to Ross and Edith (Stout) Timmons. She is survived by her children, Lori Miller, of Elkhart, Brian and Vicki Stutzman and Cheryl and Mike Kennedy, both of Goshen; beloved grandchildren, Tydis, Taylor and Tanner Miller, of Goshen, James and Nikki Dunn, of Land O Lakes, Florida, Cory and Marshall Stutzman, of Goshen, Kate and Jena Kennedy, of Goshen, and Courtney and Pam Nave, of Lafayette; cherished great-grandchildren, Chad and Kaia Kennedy, of Goshen, and Parker Nave, of Lafayette, and Ally and Liam Dunn, of Land O Lakes, Florida; three sisters, Phyllis Copenhaver, of Goshen, Frances Armey, of Warsaw, and Donna Yoder, of Syracuse; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Timmons, of Leesburg, Jayne Timmons, of Syracuse, and Dorothy Timmons, of Goshen; and a brother-in-law, Jay Saal, of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert, Ross "Leroy", Herbert and Richard Timmons, and sisters, Mary Saal and Mildred Shafer. Dorothea was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church where she used her talents to create banners and was always ready to make food for church activities. She was a 30 year member of Tops Club #78. She also served as a 4-H leader for 10 years and was always an avid follower of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's sports and music events. Dorothea also loved animals evidenced by the many dogs, cats, and birds she cared for during her life. She fought a gallant battle against her cancer, always keeping an optimistic attitude but with a fierce determination. She always put others first in her life and was a wonderful Mom, Grandma and Grandma-Great. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2014, and one hour prior to the 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2014, Celebration of Life Service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery, Milford. Memorial contributions may be directed to I.U. Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care, Infusion Room.
