Survivors include two sons, Robert (Karen) Wortinger of Verona, Wisconsin and Ronald (Cheryl) Wortinger of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Nathan, Michelle, Brenda, Jennifer, and Melissa; ten great-grandchildren; a great great-granddaughter; a sister, Arlene Holdread of Goshen; two sisters-in law, Leona Yoder of Middlebury and Audrey Yoder of Goshen, and several nieces and nephews who were very close to her.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Vera Bickel, Gerald L. Yoder, Ralph Yoder, Verna Weaver, Velma Yoder, and J. Olen Yoder.
Doris received a nursing degree from the Mennonite School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for many years at Goshen Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Doris was a very gentle soul and always had a big, cheerful smile. She served as the organist at Warren Street Mennonite Church in Middlebury. She loved music and playing hymns. She also loved sewing, gardening, cooking and serving in local homemakers clubs. Doris was very proud of her Hostetler and Yoder roots which go back several generations. This included the round concrete barn built by her grandfather, Menno Yoder, in Shipshewana.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:30 funeral service at Eighth Street Mennonite Church. Pastors Brenda Sawatzky Paetkau and Julia Gingrich will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
