Doris Lee (Harms) Hoyt, 88, of Goshen, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
She was born January 20, 1935 in Elkhart, the youngest of five children born to David L. and Edna A. (Woodman) Harms.
Doris met and married Charles D. Sellers in her teens and stayed busy raising their five children and moving several times. They spent six years in California before deciding to return to Elkhart in 1969.
Doris worked in the manufacturing industry, most notable Dwyer Manufacturing in Wakarusa and Crown International in Elkhart.
Doris had a strong faith and attended church throughout most of her life. She was an avid reader and would say the library was her favorite place to go. She also loved board games and playing cards, and would often play with her siblings.
She retired in 2000 and moved into the Greencroft Community in Goshen. She volunteered in several different activities at Greencroft and at the Bristol United Methodist Church. Doris sang in the choir and with her beautiful alto voice, she sang solos and duets.
In 2012 Doris met the love of her life, Lee Hoyt, in a bowling alley. They quickly fell in love, married and he settled into the Greencroft Community with her. Together they were active volunteers at Greencroft and especially loved helping and playing WII Bowling.
Doris was widowed in 2020 and moved to healthcare several months later. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Warden Harms, Shirley Linder, Jane Miskin and Joann Stephens, and a great-granddaughter, Mercadiaz Reed.
She is survived by her children, Roy (Sue) Sellers, Linda Sellers, Rhonda (Charlie) Cochran, Diane (Wyman) Nash and Daniel Sellers; 11 grandchildren, Chad, Melanie, Alex, Katie, Carrie, Abby, Brandon, Bethany, Megan, Amanda and Ryan; and 21 great-grandchildren, Evan, Kelsy, Carleen, Brooke, Maverick, Marlow, Isabelle, Waverly, Jonquil, Ava, Tristan, Annabelle, Gideon, Benjamin, Saige, Tyson, McKenna, Addison, Kassius, Elliot and Rylan.
Visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2023 from 3 p.m. until the 5 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Chaplain Greg Grotbeck will officiate.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Bristol Community Church, 201 S. Division Street, Bristol, IN 46507; https://www.bristolumc.org/ .
