Dorcas A. Steider, 72, of Goshen, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 at IU Health Goshen Hospital of pneumonia. She was born Jan. 6, 1942 in Goshen to Lester and Mary (Holaway) Miller. On Aug. 9, 1986 she married Donald L. Steider in Elkhart. He died June 27, 2014. Survivors include two daughters, Dawn (Bryan Collmer) Summerton of Lincolnton, North Carolina and Deidre (Tyler Brinson) Bias of Elkhart; a step-daughter, Janell Harris of Raleigh, North Carolina; two step-sons, Bryan Steider of Goshen and Brendan (Holly) Steider of Archbold, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Brandan, Adam, Tyler, Pamela, Wesley, Seth, Savion and Riley; and two brothers, Lynford (Lois) Miller of Middlebury and Phillip (Nan) Miller of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband , a daughter-in-law, Julie Steider and a son-in-law, James Bias. A member of College Mennonite Church, Dorcas worked as an administrative assistant at Oaklawn for more than 20 years and then was employed by Mennonite Mission Network in the church relations department. She loved being with her friends and family and listening to music. She sang in many choirs, was a pianist and an organist and delighted in listening to her grandchildren perform. She enjoyed traveling, reading and working in her rock garden. Friends may call Monday, October 13, 2014 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, October 14, at 4 p.m. at College Mennonite Church. Burial will precede the memorial service. Family and friends are invited to meet at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home at 2 p.m. to go in procession to Violett Cemetery, Goshen Memorial contributions may be given to College Mennonite Church.
