Dorcas June Peavey, 82, formerly of Fort Wayne, died Friday, November 11, at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. She was born in South Bend to the late Marvin Russell Harkins and Gladys Viola (Callantine) Harkins. She lived in the Goshen area most of her life, but spent 26 years in Fort Wayne, before moving back to Goshen in 2004. She married Donald George Peavey Jr., in Fort Wayne, on December 6, 1968. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1989. She is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Ray (Luanne) Cripe, Syracuse, Michael Cripe, Williamsburg, Illinois; two step-daughters, Susan Satterfield, Sally Rush; three grandchildren, Rhonda, (Terry) Dorn, Cheryl (Steve), Beasy, both of Goshen, Dayton Cripe, Williamsburg, Illinios; one brother, Ray Harkins, Mishawaka; five great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters. Mrs. Peavey worked as an inspector at Continental Seals for most of her life. She later worked as a clerk for Meijer in Fort Wayne. She retired from Meijer in 2003. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, November 13, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Monday at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Care at Home Hospice or to the Greencroft Foundation.
