Dora Jean Back

Dora Jean Back, 78, of Elkhart, died Thursday evening, August 27, 2009, at her home.  She had been ill the last 15 years. she was born in Kayford, West Virginia, on July 19, 1931.  She married Virgil Norman Back, Sr. on December 9, 1946 in Eskdale, West Virginia.  He preceded her on May 30, 1971.  A 17 year resident of the area, Mrs. Back was a homemaker.  She enjoyed reading her Bible, crocheting, drawing and painting. She is survived by two sons, Virgil, Back of Goshen and Bill (Becky) Back of Crab Orchard, West Virginia; three daughters, Brenda (James) Foster of Chelyan, West Virginia, Nancy (Paul) Taylor of Belle, West Virginia, and Rachel (Mark) Britton of Elkhart; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Nona (Jesse) Martin of Ohley, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Dallas Back; a grandson, Christopher; two sisters, Edith Kirkpatrick and Linda Russell; and two brothers, John Harvey Walk and Leonard Castle. Friends  may call 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 31 at Pryors Funeral Home in East Bank, West Virginia. An 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Pryors Funeral Home.  Burial will be in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, West Virginia.
