Donald D. Walker, 86, of Union, Michigan, passed away at his home, Thursday, October 14, 2021.
He was born October 29, 1934, in Goshen to Carl and Laura (Ford) Walker.
Don graduated from New Paris High School in 1952. On March 21, 1953, he married Delores Hollar. He went on to serve in the Army, 82 nd Airborne. Once he returned home, farming became his passion. He started as a hired man, then in the late 50’s, he and Delores purchased the home farm, at Union, Michigan. Don was also a leader in bringing irrigation and seed corn production to northern Indiana and lower Michigan. Hobbies, when weather permitted, were mushroom hunting and fishing.
Delores survives along with a daughter, Donna (Steve) Newcomer of Bristol; son, Kent (Shelley) Walker of Edwardsburg, Michigan; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Walker of Port Charlotte, Florida.
With his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Irl, Dick and Kenneth.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Union, Michigan, of which Don was a member, on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11 a.m. Pastor Bryan Taylor will officiate.
Memorial donations may be given to the church.
