Donald L. Stringfellow, 78, of Goshen, died at his home Wednesday morning, September 1, 2010, after an extended illness. He was born November 3, 1931, in Goshen to the late James and Goldie (Shoemaker) Stringfellow. He married Nellie A. Hixson on April 25, 1954 in New Paris. She died January 5, 2002. He lived most of his life in New Paris, but spent six years in Florida. Surviving are a son, Kim (Debra) Stingfellow of Louisville, Kentucky; two daughters, Cyndie Stringfellow of Louisville, Kentucky, and Anita (Robert) Rink of Goshen; five grandchildren, Adam Chilton, Megan (Jerod) Erb, Bobbi (Scot) Croner, Lauren (Kyle) Carrick, and Cassie Rink; and two great-grandsons, Gavin and Wyatt Erb. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Myrtle Sheley, Walter, Marion, Joseph, Russel, Robert, and James Stringfellow. A1949 graduate of Goshen High School, he served in the US Army in Korea from 1954-56, after the conflict ended. A tool and die maker, Mr. Stringfellow owned and operated Mold Engineering in Goshen and retired in 1995 from Atlas Engineering. He was a member of Zion Community Church. A private airplane pilot, he enjoyed golfing, talking on his HAM radio, and taking his dogs to the woods with his four wheeler. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Friday, September 3, at the funeral home. A 10:00 am, Saturday, September 4, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Howell of Zion Community Church, Millersburg, will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be made to Goshen Care at Home Hospice or Zion Community Church.
