Donald L. Stacker, 88, of Granger, died Monday, June 14, 2021 at home.
He was born December. 19, 1932 in Goshen to Harold and Mary (Haney) Stacker.
On September 30, 1951 he married Phyllis Mae Rink in Goshen. She died January 6, 2020.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Sorokin of Elkhart and Pamela Watson of Granger; a son, Douglas (Christine) Stacker of Goshen; six grandchildren, Alan, Heather, Brittany, Noah, Hope and Leah; two great-grandchildren, Remingtyn and Drew; and a sister, Bethany S. Stryker, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Kay Stacker, and a brother, Daniel Stacker.
A 20-year veteran of the Elkhart Fire Department, Mr. Stacker was a hard worker. Along with being a firefighter, he drove school buses for Elkhart Community Schools for 11 years; and was a life-long butcher for area grocers including Wilt’s, Miller’s Grocery, Martin’s, and Lucchese's Italian Restaurant in his retirement.
Don enjoyed yard work, planting flowers and watching the Chicago Cubs and I.U. basketball games.
Visitation will be Friday, June 18, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Hunn, Jefferson Community Church will officiate.
Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed Jefferson Community Church or Southern Care Hospice.
