Goshen

Donald L. Lukeman, 88, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Waterford Crossing.

He was born September 30, 1933 in Hammond to LeRoy A. and Helen (Ullrich) Lukeman.

On August 23, 1958 he married D. Ellen Keim at Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen. She died September 1, 2009.

Don is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Stephen) Priem of Bristol, two grandsons, Andrew Stephen (Kayla) Priem and Tyler Christian (Haley) Priem, and four great-grandchildren, Rhett, Braylon, Landry and Knox. Also surviving is a special friend, Carolyn Leichty of Goshen.

Don studied at Goshen College and received his master’s degree from Ball State University, and also completed two years of seminary at Great Lakes Bible Institute. He taught at Parkside Elementary School for 18 years and at Goshen Middle School for seven years. He collected antiques, enjoyed all sports, especially Purdue and the Chicago Cubs, and is well known for his involvement in Goshen fast-pitch softball and the Goshen Exchange Club.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 2:30 p.m. funeral service will take place. Burial will be at Violett Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Salvation Army, Goshen or Men’s Fellowship at College Mennonite Church.
