Don L. Miller, 79, of Elkhart, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Elkhart Hospital.

He was born October 31, 1943 in Kalona, Iowa to Raymond G. and Nettie (Bender) Miller.

On January 25, 1964 he married Isabell J. Van der Werf in Kalona, Iowa.

She survives along with two sons, Tony (Leah) Miller of Goshen and A.J. (Bonnie) Miller of Foley, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Madison Miller, Quinn Miller, Jade I. Omic’, Michelle, Elizabeth and Noah Miller; a sister, Barbara Longoria of Indianapolis; and a brother, Arden (Patricia) Miller of Iowa City, Iowa.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Don Miller, Jr.; a daughter, Michelle Omic’; two granddaughters, Emina and Leila Omic’; and two sisters, Margaret Miller and Treva Tenner.

A graduate of Iowa Mennonite School, now known as Hillcrest Academy, Kalona, Iowa, Don was a life-long Iowa Hawkeye sports fan. He worked as a bulk milk truck driver and drove school buses for Concord and Goshen Community Schools before retirement.

Don loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren, who knew him as “Pakka”.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 5 p.m. at River Oaks Community Church, 58020 CR 115, Goshen, where Don was a member. Pastor Scott Tilley will officiate. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial will take place in Kalona, Iowa at a later date.
