Dennis W. Risser, 81, died November 28, 2022, in Goshen.
He was born April 29, 1941, in Goshen to Woodrow T. and E. Arlene (Miller) Risser Bobeck.
On August 24, 1968, he married Alice A. Yoder.
She survives along with children Denise, Deanna and Eric (Michelle) Risser, all of Goshen; grandchildren Emily and Joel; brother J. Douglas (Sharon) Risser of Goshen; and sisters-in-law Karen Yoder of Goshen, Jonna Risser of Carmel, and Nancy (Cloyce) Nofziger of Archbold, Ohio, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jerry L. Risser; and brothers- and sisters-in-law M. Marion Yoder, Regina Yoder, Wanda Yoder, Charles D. Yoder, Judy Yoder, and John W. Yoder.
He graduated in 1959 from Goshen High School, in 1963 from Bluffton College and in 1967 from Indiana University with a master’s degree in education.
Dennis taught at Shipshewana Scott High School, Lakeland High School, and Glen Oaks Community College. He was also a realtor and a member of Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Indiana Retired Teachers, Elkhart County Board of Realtors, and a former member of Middlebury Exchange Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, jazz music, and sang in many local singing groups.
Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Yoder Culp Funeral Home, Goshen; and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. memorial service at Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen, on Saturday, December 3.
Memorials may be given to Camp Friedenswald, or Eighth St. Mennonite Church designated for student financial aid.
