GOSHEN — Dennis R. George, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 24, 1941, in Kosciusko County, Indiana, to the late Welcome Dale and Lois (Laudeman) George.
On July 24, 1998, in Goshen, he married Sandra "Sandy" (Berkey) George.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; his daughter, Tracey (Darin) Burke of Milford; two step-daughters, Stephanie Smith and Crystal Ellis, both of Goshen; nine grandchildren, Shenyel (Moy) Rodriguez, Alan (Mindy) Housour, Brandie Clarke, Amanda Bachman, Katie Smith, Jordan Smith, Ali McMurray, Amber Ellis and Lauren Ellis and six great-grandchildren, Sophie, Bodie, Dalton, Charles, Malia and Melodie; a sister, Karen Stutsman of Bristol; and a brother, Dale George, Jr..
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Deisch; two sons, Todd George and Terry George; a sister, Beverly Williams; a brother, Jim George; two sisters-in-law, Sherry George and Sharon George; and two brothers-in-law, Leo Williams and Tom Stutsman.
A proud graduate of the Nappanee High School Class of 1959, Dennis lived and worked his whole life in the Nappanee area. He spent his career in the excavating industry, working for CTS from 1960 to 1968, Heckaman Homes from 1969 to 1972, and later retiring from Denny's Backhoe & Excavating, where he worked from 1972 to 2018.
Dennis was a man who loved the simple pleasures of life: frequenting local coffee shops, following NASCAR and Notre Dame Football, and above all, enjoying quality time with his family. He was baptized at Ebenezer Church.
Visitation will take place Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Everence Cabin following the service for light snacks.
Following his wishes, cremation will take place, and his cremated remains will be buried at Stony Point Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Center for Hospice Care.
