Dennis Eli Hochstetler, 64, of Millersburg, died unexpectedly at his home Sunday afternoon, April 27, 2014, of natural causes. He was born July 4, 1949 in Sturgis, Michigan to Eli Daniel and Orpha Minnie (Bell) Hochstetler. He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Haney of Syracuse and Beth Hochstetler of Millersburg; four grandchildren, Kayla, Michael and Collin Hendrix and Hayden Goble. Also surviving are two sisters, Pam Juarez of Nappanee and Sherril Bailey of LaPorte; six brothers, Roger of Elkhart, John (Arlene) of Union Mills, Steve of Nappanee, Ronald of Etna Green, Lynn of Goshen and Rex (Marloes) of Nappanee; and a step-brother, Doug(Diane) Swinehart of Millersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Martha Swinehart Hochstetler; and a step-brother, Tony Swinehart. He was a member of West Goshen Church of the Brethren, the Millersburg Lions Club and Sons of the American Legion, Millersburg. His love for Big Brothers and Big Sisters inspired him to raise more than $20,000 for them. Mr. Hochstetler served with Jobs Corps for two years in Wisconsin and retired in 2012 from Triangle Rubber. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. A 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014, funeral service will be conducted at West Goshen Church of the Brethren. Pastor Norm Replogle will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to West Goshen Church of the Brethren or Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Elkhart County.
