Dennis “Denny” E. Emmert, 65, of Syracuse died at his home Saturday evening, June 11, 2016.
He was born February 25, 1951 in Goshen to John, Jr. and Eva (Rink) Emmert.
On September 14, 1974 he married Lynn Fritzen in Rolling Prairie.
She survives along with two daughters, Julie (Kit) DuBois of Boise, Idaho and Jamie Hayes of Syracuse; three grandchildren, Madison and Jackson Hayes and Chloe DuBois; and two sisters, Bonnie (Elwin) Craft and Diane (Roger) Symensma both of Syracuse.
A lifetime area resident, Denny was a 1969 Fairfield High School graduate and member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse. He owned and operated D&E Automotive in Syracuse for 15 years prior to working as a mechanic for the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, retiring in 2013 as shop manager.
He treasured time with his grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, classic cars and animals.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 funeral service will be conducted. Pastor Edward Beedle will officiate.
Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery, Millersburg.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Elkhart County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
