Dennis E. Martin

Dennis E. Martin, 67, of Goshen, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born February 14, 1949 in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Jacob Weldon and Sarah Lorene (Troyer) Martin.

On June 15, 1974 he married Harriet Schrock in Goshen.

She survives along with two sons, Rev. David (Amy) Martin of Torrance, California and Jason (Ruth) Martin of Raleigh, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Joshua, Josiah, Jude and Zoe Martin; and five siblings, Dr. Jay (Penni) Martin of Ohio, Carol (Bob) Grimesey of North Carolina, Susan (Rob) Kaylor of Japan, and Rachel (Tim) Swartz and Dr. John (Tonya) Martin, both of Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Goshen resident since 1973, Dennis worked as a wood worker at Goshen Manufacturing, Interior Woodworking and eventually at Masterbrand for 20 years before retiring.

He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Goshen, for the past nine years.  A gentle servant, he enjoyed teaching and living the Word of God.

Friends may call Tuesday, June 21, 2016,from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Friends may also call one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at First United Methodist Church.  Rev. David Martin, son, and Pastors Ed and Brenda Fritz will officiate.

Cremation will follow the funeral service and a private burial will take place at a later date.
