Dennis M. Chiddister

Dennis M. Chiddister, 74, of Elkhart died Monday, December 4, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born February 23, 1949 in Elkhart to Max A. and Martha M. (Mansfield) Chiddister.

On August 15, 1970 he married Nancy Everest in Elkhart.

She survives along with a daughter, Coni (Tony) Nafziger, and a son, Brian (Robyn) Chiddister, both of Goshen; and five grandchildren, Bryce (Monica), Maxwell and Samuel Chiddister, and Ian and Blake Nafziger.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Bruhn and Barbara Gay.

A 1967 Concord High School graduate, he went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in education from Taylor University. Mr. Chiddister worked as a teacher and basketball coach for a few years. He also worked in the flooring industry and served in the National Guard for six years. Since 1982 he owned several small businesses including Elkhart Satellite Systems.

A member of Sugar Grove Church, Dennis was a man with boundless curiosity. He enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing to name a few of his interests. He was a licensed pilot and a certified scuba diver. Spending time with family was always a first priority for him.

Visitation will be Friday, December 8, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. There will also be an hour of visitation Saturday, beginning at noon prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service at Sugar Grove Church, 58512 Old C.R. 17, Goshen. Rev. Rick Donald will officiate.

Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery.
