Dean Leroy Pittman

Dean L. Pittman, 84, of Syracuse, died early Tuesday morning, March 30, 2010, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. He was born in Goshen on June 18, 1925, to the late Roy and Irene (Bowman) Pittman.  He married Roberta J. Niccum on October 11, 1946 in Montezuma, Iowa.  She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Sally Jane (Wayne) Kirby of Kodak, Tennessee, Diane Irene (Jeff) Schmidt of Los Altos, California, and Marjorie Ann Russell of Westfield; two grandsons, Kenneth Kirby, Jr. and Gage Russell; a sister, Norma Ganger of Goshen; two step-sisters, Jeri (Sheldon) McClain and Eileen (Leon) Nichols; and a sister-in-law, June Niccum. She was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Douglas Pittman and a sister, Annabelle Culbert. A 1943 graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Pittman was president and general manager of Syracuse Rubber Products Company.  He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Syracuse.  Mr. Pittman served with the US Navy during World War II. Private graveside services will be held at Syracuse Cemetery, Syracuse, with Pastor Michael Neff, Associate Pastor of St. Andrews United Methodist Church  officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army or Goshen General Hospital Foundation.
