David R. "Tiny" Bechtel

David "Tiny" Bechtel, 57, of Goshen, died Saturday morning, May 31, 2014 at the Maples at Waterford Crossing. He was born June 27, 1956 in Elkhart, to Dr. David D. and Mary K. (Verbarg) Bechtel. On October 23, 2010 he married Ruth Etchason. She survives along with two step-daughters, Joanne (Mike) Plummer and Cristina (Jake) McPhail, both of Elkhart; a step-son, George (Billie Jo) Etchason, of Shipshewana; and nine step-grandchildren. David was a member at First Brethren Church, Goshen. He worked as a self employed truck driver who also built drag racing cars and was a N.H.R.A. enthusiast. He also enjoyed animals and raised registered Hereford cattle and miniature horses at Harmony Grove Farm. Friends may call one hour prior to the 6 p.m. memorial service Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor John Drexler of First Brethren Church will officiate. Cremation will take place and burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
