David Harold Swartzendruber

August 21, 1951 — October 21, 2008

David Harold Swartzendruber, 57, of Goshen, died late Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2008 as a result of a car/semi-truck accident on SR 15, north of US 6 in New Paris. He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on August 21, 1951, to Harold Leon and Lucille (Graber) Swartzendruber of Goshen.  He married Jereen Jesca Nandawula, on February 14, 2002.  She survives in Boston, Massachusetts. A licensed occupational therapist for Anchor Health Systems in Crown Point, Indiana, Mr. Swartzentruber lived in Goshen most of his life. He was a 1969 graduate of Goshen High School where he sang in the Crimsonaires and starred on the tennis team where he was a State Runner-up in doubles in 1968 with Rex Lehman.  He also graduated from Goshen College, where he played tennis, and earned his master’s degree from Western Michigan University. He is survived by his parents; his wife;  a daughter, Breanne Buterbaugh, and a son, Michael Swartzendruber, both of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; a grandson; a sister, Janet Reid of Charlottesville, Virginia; two brothers, James Swartzendruber of Rome City, and Steven Swartzendruber of Goshen.   Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, October 31, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church, Goshen. A memorial service will be held at College Mennonite Church, Goshen on November 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Klaudia Smucker will officiate.
