David B. Strycker, D.D.S., 59, of South Bend, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his home.
He was born February 2, 1958 in Midland, Michigan to Stanley and Patsy (Soncarty) Strycker, PhD.
On June 7, 1980 he married Andrea Warkentin in Fort Wayne.
She survives along with five children, Kyle J. (Heather) Strycker, M.D. of South Bend, Benjamin D. Strycker, PhD of Waco, Texas, James E. (Jennie) Strycker, M.D. of South Bend, John M. (Gabi) Strycker of Goshen and Kate L. Strycker of Buchanan, Michigan; five grandchildren; his parents and three siblings. S. Douglas (Helen Ann) Strycker, M.D. of Milford, Connie Jo (Robert) Springer of Metamora, Illinois and Stephen J. (Sharon) Strycker, M.D. of Zionsville.
David graduated from Zionsville High School in 1976, attended Goshen College and graduated from Indiana University dental school in 1983. He was the former owner of Christiana Creek Dental Care, Elkhart for 30 years before retiring in 2012.
In 2014 he and Andrea founded African Medical Alliance, an organization that builds hospitals in rural Africa.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 S. Main Street, Goshen.
A private burial will take place in Violett Cemetery.
A 1 p.m., Thursday, December 7, public memorial service will be held at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road, South Bend, followed by coffee and cookies. Pastor Steve Meck will officiate.
