David Eugene Showalter

David Eugene Showalter, 59, of Goshen, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, July 4, 2009. He was born in Goshen on November 1, 1949, to the late Daniel Burton Showalter and Helen Marie (Kehr) Showalter. A 1968 graduate of New Paris/Fairfield High School, Mr. Showalter had worked for more than 20 years at Burger Dairy in New Paris.  He played a number of musical instruments, including a five string banjo and guitar. He enjoyed freshwater fishing in local lakes and collecting sports memorabilia, especially baseball and football sports cards. He is survived by his mother, Helen Showalter of Goshen; a son, Aaron (Jennifer) Showalter of Indianapolis; a step-son, Adam Showalter of Goshen; a sister, Julie (David) Haab of New Paris; and three brothers, Burton (Sherry) Showalter and Gary (Mary) Showalter, both of Goshen, and James (Vena) Showalter of Warsaw. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.  Pastor John Randolph of People’s Bible Baptist Church, Benton, will officiate.
