Dr. David G. Lehman

Dr. David G. Lehman, 93, a long time Goshen resident passed away Sunday, June 2 in Bryan, Ohio.

He was born Jan. 25, 1926 in Kenmare, North Dakota to Joseph L. and Stella (Sharp) Lehman.

In June 1951 he married Doris Liechty in Archbold, Ohio.  She died September 1973.  He later married Lola Schmidt in Goshen Oct. 1978.  She died March 1999.

Survivors include four daughters, Anne (Johnny) Crist, Lilburn, Georgia, Margaret (Leonard) Nafziger, Archbold, Ohio, Jane (Darrel) Hartman, Waddy, Kentucky and Mary (John) Bettis, Elkhart; two sons, Dr. David (Jan) Lehman, Union, Michigan and Joseph (Jessie) Lehman, Black Mountain, North Carolina; 41 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Handrich, Valparaiso and Josephine Swartzendruber, Rocky Ford, Colorado.

Along with parents and spouses, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Buller, Genevieve Buckwalter and Ethel Slabaugh, and a brother, Reuel Lehman.

A long-time area Orthodontist, Dr. Lehman did his undergraduate work at Goshen College, receiving his doctorate degree in Dentistry and master’s degree in Orthodontics from Indiana University, Bloomington.  He also did two years of Dentistry with Voluntary Service in Puerto Rico.

He was a regular attender at College Mennonite Church.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen.

There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, June 7, 2019 in the church sanctuary. Reverends Johnny Crist and Jeff Reichanadter will officiate.

Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
