David Garold Hoover

David Garold Hoover, 69, of New Paris, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, surrounded by family, after battling cancer since July 2022.

He was born September 11, 1954 in Goshen to Nelson and Lois Joan (Whetten) Hoover.

On June 5, 1981 he married Katrina Shepherd in Goshen.  She died December 12, 2022.

David is survived by two children, Kesley Hoover of Hannibal, Missouri and Brett (Angela) Hoover of New Paris; two grandchildren, Zachary and Chase; five siblings, Diann (Bill) Dunlap of Goshen, Luann (Andrew) Roose of St. Cloud, Florida, Phil (Marsha Worrell) Hoover of Syracuse; Rich (Sandi) Hoover of Middlebury and Don (Sherry) Hoover of New Paris.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers Terry and Dean Hoover.

An auto mechanic, David retired from RAP Auto where he had worked since 1987.  A people person, David enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his brothers.  His hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping and being a mechanic on the side.

The family will gather at Sunnyside Park, New Paris on Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 1 to 6 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service conducted at 3 p.m.   Rev. Michael Overpeck will officiate.

Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to New Paris Fire Department.
