David L. Gildersleeve, 89, of Goshen, died at his home early Wednesday evening, February 13, 2008. He was born in Ticonderoga, New York, on September 15, 1918, to Aziel and Lillian (Darby) Gildersleeve. He married Billie Valentine in Cromwell, Indiana, on October 21, 1978. She survives. A Goshen resident since 1997, Mr. Gildersleeve attended First United Methodist Church, Goshen. He was a glight instructor for the US Army Air Corps frum July 1943 to January 1946. He retired as a Major from the US Air Force in 1978. He also retired from Sea Nymph in Syracuse where he was an engineer boat designer. He is survived by his wife, Billie; a daughter, Shelly Moore of Cromwell; a son, David Gildersleeve of Syracuse; a step-daughter, Pamela (Douglas) Peterson of Goshen; a step-son, Tim Hively of Goshen; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Adell Wallace: and two brothers, Carney and Richard Bartlett. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorials may be directed to Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
