David L. Coleman

David L. Coleman, 77, of DeLeon Springs, Florida, died Tuesday morning, April 3, 2007, at Florida Hospital DeLand in Deland, Florida, after a five month illness.   He was born on August 29, 1929, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Reevie J. “Sam” and Evelyn “Peg” (Benedict) Coleman.  He married Maxine Redden on December 21, 1972.  She survives.   Mr. Coleman had lived in Goshen from 1939 to 1972, at which time he moved to Syracuse.  In July 2006 he moved to DeLeon Springs.  He had worked at Moguel Rubber in Goshen for 20 years and retired from Sea Nymph in Syracuse in May 1992.   A 1948 graduate of Goshen High School he served in the US Army for two years.   He is survived by his wife, Maxine; a son, Russell J. (Sharon) Coleman of Goshen: a daughter, Deborah Naylor of Goshen; three step-sons, Jim (Angie) McKee of Goshen, Randall (Alexius) Evans of Ligonier and Elwood “Buck” Foster of DeLeon Springs, Florida; two step-daughters, Kathy Sue (Lonnie) Rake and Karen Lou (Dennis) Boddiger, both of Cromwell; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a brother, Robert J. (Diana) Coleman of Goshen and two sisters, Betty Lou Zimmerman of Milford, and Grace (Herbert) Hershberger of White Pigeon, Michigan and DeLeon Springs, Florida.   He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Sandra Kay McKee and a step-great-granddaughter, LaDonna Maureen Evans.   Friends will be received Monday, April 9, 9 to 11 a.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will follow with Assistant Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse, officiating.   Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
