Daryl Lester Umbower, 85, of Syracuse, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2022.
He was born June 8, 1937, in Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania, son of the late John Umbower and Madeline (Golden) Umbower Albright. He married Marie Sackett on June 11, 1960.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Umbower and four children: DeeAnn (Ben) Shephard of Troy, Virginia, Denae (KC Wiese) Umbower of Houston, Texas, Dan (Anna) Umbower of Goshen, and Dori (Barry) Hochstedler of Noblesville; seven grandchildren: Kelsey (Kyle) Stuart, Karston (Katie) Shephard, Kamden Shephard, Hawkins, Hudson and Harrison Hochstedler and Gabriella Umbower.
Daryl had two brothers, Floyd Umbower (deceased) and Gary Umbower.
Daryl was a high school math teacher, a farmer and carrier for Godfrey Marine. He loved to spread God’s word in retirement going on several mission trips to France, Romania, Poland, Austria, South Korea and Paraguay.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. On Friday, Oct. 21, visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. with the funeral to follow at Sugar Grove Church, 58512 Old C.R. 17, Goshen. Rev. Louis Showers will officiate.
Burial in Syracuse Cemetery will be Friday at 2 p.m.
