Darrel L. Parker

July 1, 1952 — December 17, 2010

Darrel L. Parker, 58, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, December 17, 2010, at Elkhart General Hospital where he had been since Wednesday.  He had been in failing health. He was born July 1, 1952 in Oregon.  He was married to Joyce Stark for 18 years.  She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Tracy (Joey) Patton of Wawaka; two granddaughters, Courtney and Trinity; his mother, Venita N. (Donat) Parker of Goshen; a sister, Debra (David) Carter of Howe; and two nephews, Sheldon L. Wortinger of Middlebury, and Jason Wortinger of White Pigeon, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. James W. Parker in 2005; and a brother, R.W. “Ricky” Parker in 2000. A 1970 graduate of West Noble High School, he was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.  He received a degree in accounting from IUSB and had worked as a security guard for many years before becoming disabled.  He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially wrestling and football. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, December 19, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Monday, December 20, 2010, funeral service will be conducted.  Pastor Craig Garber of Christian Fellowship of Goshen will officiate. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery, Kimmel. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
