Darlene “Dar” Sautter Myers, 67, made the transition to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, passing away at home after a sudden illness.
She was born in Goshen on February 23, 1958, to Everett and Edith (Weaver) Sautter. On November 20, 1976, she was united in marriage to Brian Losee, who preceded her in death. On June 26, 1999, God delivered her an answer to her specific prayer for “a big man with a truck” when she married Daniel Myers. Her family embraced him as their own and they enjoyed 26 years of marriage.
Dar is survived by her husband, Dan; her daughter Shayne (Matt) Losee-Crain, who was her dearest pride and joy; deeply cherished grandchildren, Brian, Brooklyn, and Blake Crain; sister Cindy (Doyle) Hayes; and chosen family Fred Taylor and Kaytlyn Kain. She also leaves behind too many heartbroken best friends to name. In addition to her late husband Brian, Dar was preceded in death by her parents.
Her sweet life of Christian faith began as a girl when her neighbors drove Dar and her sister to Sunday School at New Paris Missionary church. That faith flourished as an adult at her beloved Community Church of Waterford. She was a graduate of Goshen High School and held several jobs throughout her career, starting at Dairy Queen and ending as a bookkeeper for several local businesses.
Dar is remembered as a happy and generous person, sharing her pool, porch, laughter, and hospitality with ease. She could prepare a meal for 100+ with one day’s notice and did so often in years of faithful service at her church. She liked, rooted for, and thought the best of everyone she met. She always looked for something to celebrate and could not wait for every upcoming season. She was the first to put out her pumpkins, her Christmas trees and her summer flowers. Friends and family could always expect a handmade Christmas card from Dar. She filled her days with fun - organizing pool parties, crafting weekends, lunches and card games with her enormous community of girlfriends. Any room she occupied was made richer by her laughter and her love. To say she had a tender heart for all animals is an understatement. She considered her many pets to be honored members of her family.
Visitation for Darlene will be Monday, September 22 at Community Church of Waterford, Goshen, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., and from 10-11 A.M. prior to the 11:00 funeral service on Tuesday, September 23, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Here Kitty Kitty Rescue, or Community Church of Waterford.
