Daniel P. Eckelbarger

January 20, 1939 — April 4, 2015

Daniel P. Eckelbarger, 76, of Goshen, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015. Dan was born January 20, 1939 to Daniel B. and Phyllis (Howard) Eckelbarger. On October 29, 1965 he was united in marriage to Nancy VanDerMaas. She survives along with a son and daughter, Blake (Amanda) Eckelbarger and Michelle Eckelbarger, both of Goshen, and a brother, Dr. Kevin Eckelbarger, Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Douglas Eckelbarger. Dan was a 1957 graduate of Goshen High School and was associated with radio broadcasting his entire life in Elkhart and Kosciusko Counties as well as in Florida. He also served on the Goshen Salvation Army Advisory Board since 1994, the Elkhart County Alcoholic Beverage Commission and volunteered with Meals on Wheels since 2002. Dan was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Goshen and enjoyed staying connected with all his friends from his graduating class. The Eckelbarger family would like to thank Dr. E. Kio and Dr. H. Vaghefi and the loving and caring staff of Goshen Center for Cancer Care for their support during Dan's treatment. In keeping with Dan's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate Dan's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 214 S. 5th St., Goshen. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service in the Garden Room at the church. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Goshen.
