Daniel E. Cross

Daniel E. Cross, 85, of Goshen, died early Saturday morning, December 4, 2010, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing. He was born December 27, 1924 in Nappanee to Enos and Mattie (Yoder) Cross.  He married Beulah Gingerich on May 14, 1944 in Middlebury.  She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Joyce Miller and Darlene (Vernon) Cross, both of Goshen and Gloria (Mike) Schrock of Millersburg; a son, Marvin (Deanna) Cross of Elkhart; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Mary (Jonas) Schrock and Anna (Irvin) Yoder, both of Goshen, and Rosa (Calvin) Bontrager of Middlebury; and five brothers, George (Verna) Cross of Middlebury, Vernon )Arlene) Cross, LeRoy (Esther) Cross and Joe (Alpha) Cross, all of Goshen, and Elmer Cross of Millerburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Sarah Ann Cross; and a sister, Fannie Mae Cross. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Cross worked at Honey Crust Bakery, Fuller Brush, Goshen Farms Dairy, J & K Oil, Burger Dairy, Pine Manor and G & R Transport.  He was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 6, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. A 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2010, funeral service will be held at Pleasant View Mennonite Church.  Pastors Ron Diener and Tyler Hartford will officiate. Burial will be in Miller 8 Square Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
