Daniel Arthur Brower, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 22, 2024, with his loving family and dear friends by his side.
Daniel was born on October 10, 1941, in Watersmeet, Michigan, and is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Brower; his daughter, Jennifer Palmer; his son-in-law, Mark Palmer; and his brothers, Timothy and Michael Brower.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy Brower; his daughters, Jayme Brower and Julie (Eric) McDonald; his siblings, Beth Bruxvoort, Priscilla Miller, Stephen Brower, and James Brower; and his grandchildren, Micah Palmer, Jordan, Marcela, Derek, and Bianca Brower.
Dan was reared in the Belgian Congo where his parents were missionaries. After completing high school in Mayville, New York, he briefly attended Cedarville College before being drafted into the Army to serve in the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam, he gave his life to Jesus and accepted the free gift of salvation. Upon his safe return to the U.S., he returned to Cedarville to complete his degree. During this time, he met his beautiful wife Nancy, and they were married in 1969.
Wanting further education, Dan attended Grace Theological Seminary and served as assistant pastor at First Baptist Church in Goshen, Indiana. After serving there for a few years, Dan and Nancy began their missionary adventure in Brazil, South America in 1975. While in Brazil, Dan and Nancy were instrumental in church planting and sharing the Gospel of Jesus with the Brazilian people. They served together until 2007, when God called Nancy home. Dan continued serving in Brazil until he fully retired in 2023.
First and foremost, Dan loved to share God’s love with anyone he met. He also loved to share stories about his life in Africa, Vietnam and Brazil. He cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren and turning simple phrases into little songs. He always made sure his birds and critters were well fed.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 30 from 1-3 pm at First Baptist Church in Goshen, Indiana, followed by a memorial service at 3 pm.
A graveside service will take place on Monday, July 1 at 10 am at Violett Cemetery in Goshen, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, Dan would be honored by memorial gifts made to the World Relief South America Fund at Baptist Mid Missions (bmm.org). Dan also personally supported several ministries in Brazil until his death. Questions about continuing that legacy can be addressed to Jayme or Jeremy Brower.
