Dana R. Morse, 87 of Goshen died Monday, April 15, 2019 at Green House Village of Goshen after suffering five years with dementia.
He was born July 27, 1931 in Goshen to Charles “Roscoe” and Wilma (Thornton) Morse.
On February 5, 1956 he married Virginia A. Eldridge in Goshen.
She survives along with a son, Stephen Morse of Goshen; two daughters, Tina (Pat) Barnes of Buford, Georgia and Wendy (Doug) Wogoman of Middlebury; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Geraldine Hartsough, and Betty (Ervin) Herschberger, both of Goshen; and two sisters-in-law, Joan Morse of Madisonville, Kentucky and Berneda Morse of Elkhart.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Don Morse, and a sister, Julia Brumley.
A life-time area resident, Mr. Morse was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany from 1950 to 1953, and was a lifetime member of the F.O.P, American Legion and V.F.W. He was also a 20-year veteran of the Goshen Police Department and master bricklayer.
Following retirement, he continued to work for Elkhart County Dispatch and Sam’s Club. He was an avid fan of the Notre Dame women’s basketball program and also worked in the Notre Dame press box for football games.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, April 19, 2019 from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Troy Scott, LifePoint Church, will officiate.
Burial with military honors will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Shop with a Cop, Goshen.
