Dallas R. Zentz, 87, ofd Goshen, went to be with the Lord, whom he loved, Wednesday morning, November 19, 2014, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Laura Zentz. He was born March 18, 1927 in Mishawaka to Wayne M. and Elsie (Cramer) Zentz. On November 27, 1949 he married Norma Jean VanderReyden at her sister's home in Goshen. She preceded him in death on January 27. Survivors include three sons, Joel (Laura) Zentz of Dunlap, Jon (Constance) Zentz of Goshen and Jeremy (Betsy) Zentz of New Paris; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Diane K. Mick and a brother, Ronald (Millicent) Zentz, both of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Phyllis Brainard and a brother, Donald Zentz. A lifetime Goshen resident, Mr. Zentz was an active member of First Baptist Church, Goshen, where he sang in the choir, served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon, and always made people feel welcome. He enjoyed reading, music and golfing at both Timber Ridge and Black Squirrel golf courses, where he was a member. He worked at Excel Rubber for 42 years as a pressman and Penn Controls for three years. He also owned Goshen Fire Extinguisher Sales and Service for six years. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a munitions clerk and on border patrol in Italy. Friends may call Friday, November 21, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and on Saturday, November 22, 2014, one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at First Baptist Church, Goshen. Burial will follow in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Israel or First Baptist Church Building Fund.
