Dale E. Showalter, 83 of Goshen died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Courtyard Healthcare.
He was born April 3, 1935 in Goshen to Noble and Edna (Kauffman) Showalter.
On March 6, 1954 he married Janet C. Moseman in Topeka. She died Nov. 9, 2014. He married Sherry (Knoblauch) Schrock on December 27, 2015 in Goshen.
She survives along with his children, Douglas (John) Showalter of Worthington, Ohio, Donald (Denette) Showalter of Goshen and Jody (Jerry) Downey of Highland Falls, New York; a step-son, John Horvath of Goshen; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Esther Deal of Goshen; and a brother, Glen (Rose Ann) Showalter of Goshen.
Along with his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Vesta Stroman and Charlene Christophel; and three brothers, Jay, Stanley and Gerald Showalter.
A life time area resident, Dale served on the Millersburg Town Board and 29 years as a volunteer fireman for the Clinton Twp. Fire Dept. He worked as a manager at Carriage Inc., Millersburg for 35 years before retirement.
Mr. Showalter was a member of First United Methodist Church, Goshen and an avid golfer.
Visitation will be Friday, January 25, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. A 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January 26, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, 214 S. 5th St., Goshen; with one hour of visitation prior to service. Reverends Ed Fritz and John Randolph will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
