Corporal Adam Wayne Bopp, 22, of Fort Benning, Georgia, died early Saturday morning, January 17, 2009, from injuries received in an automobile accident near Fort Benning. He was born in Goshen on August 29, 1986. He graduated from Goshen High School in 2005. He enlisted in the Army in 2006 and received basic training at Fort Benning where he graduated from Airborne School and Regimental Indoctrination Program. In July 2007 he completed US Army Ranger School. He was a veteran of multiple tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor. He is survived by his mother, Paula K. Bopp of Goshen; his father, Mark A. (Heather) Bopp of Farmington, Minnesota; a sister, Jayme L. (Cesar) Santana of Elkhart; a step-sister, Taylor Garcelon of Farmington; a step-brother, James G. Garcelon of Farmington; and grandparents, James and Carol Bopp of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wayne and MaryLou Smith. Family and friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 23, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009, memorial service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Ed Arnold of Pine Ridge Bible Church, Goshen, and Army Chaplain (Captain) Phillip Kramer will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
