Conner Knoal Sargent, 16, of Middlebury, died Thursday afternoon, August 4, 2016 at his home.
He was born December 26, 1999 in Evansville to Rick and Hollie (Hammerstein) Sargent.
They survive along with a sister, Eva Sargent; and grandparents, Mike and Barbara Hammerstein of Evansville, Terry and Culver Hunt of Elkhart and Jack and Beth Sargent of South Bend.
A junior at Bethany Christian Schools, Conner was a member of the Debate Team and the Golf Team, volunteered as a technician for dramas and served as manager and was a player for the boy’s basketball team. He was a member of the Mishawaka Pilots’ Club and Mishawaka Air Activities and just finished solo clearance for the second and third airports.
Conner was wise and compassionate beyond his years. His understanding of people and his compassion for people was rare for any person, let alone someone so young.
Friends may call Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A Monday, August 8, funeral service will be held at Waterford Mennonite Church, starting at 7 p.m. Bethany Christian Schools staff will officiate.
Cremation at Yoder-Culp Crematory will follow the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Christian Schools for future student scholarships.
