Colson Eliza Gillis

Colson Eliza Gillis, 85, of Jones, Michigan, died Monday morning, November 5, 2012, at Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was born September 22, 1927 in Wheeler County, Georgia to Eliza and Maggie (Patton) Gillis. He married Sandra Sark September 26, 1957. She survives in Jones, Michigan. Also surviving are a daughter, Judy (John) Schrock of New Paris; three sons, Donald Gillis of Henderson, Nevada, Ron Gillis of Jones, Michigan and John (Nanette) Gillis of Elkhart; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a brother, Frederick Gillis of Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by four brothers, David, Bow, Rip and W.L. Gillis; and two sisters, Qunita Moore and Sara Gillis. A welder, Mr. Gillis attended Gospel Echoes Temple and Apostolic Pentecostal Church, both in Goshen. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A 10 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2012, funeral service will be conducted at Bethany Church of the Brethren, New Paris. Pastor Tim Sollenberger-Morphew will officiate. Burial will follow in Eden Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be given to Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
